Wayfair to soon open store and restaurant in Wilmette at Eden’s Plaza – NBC Chicago

Popular online furniture retailer Wayfair will open a massive store with an on-site restaurant at Eden’s Plaza in Wilmette later this month.

The store, located at 3232 Lake Ave. at Eden’s Plaza, will open its doors on Thursday, May 23 at 10 a.m., with “exclusive offers and family activities” throughout the weekend, a press release said.

At 150,000 square feet, the retail space will be Wayfair’s first “large format” store. That’s more than 10 times the size of Wayfair’s other physical locations, which include a Joss & Main store in Oak Brook Center.

The Wilmette store will be “a one-stop shop for all things home,” the release said, “including furniture, home decor, housewares and remodeling products for any style of space or budget.” It will also feature an on-site restaurant called “The Porch,” according to officials.

Wayfair currently has a warehouse in Romeoville, a spokesperson said. The spokesperson added that customers of the Wilmette store would be able to take “some” items from the store home after purchase. Others would be delivered.

After the official opening, the store’s opening hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, the statement added.

Development and construction of the space began in 2022. Previously released renderings of the new store show a patio with umbrellas and tables, greenery and more.

The newly renovated and expanded store is in the structure that previously housed Carson Pirie Scott, the anchor of the Plaza department store, which closed in 2018.

Here’s a look at the latest renderings as the store prepares to open:
