Watch Apple kick off WWDC 2024 here

Apple will kick off its week-long World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) event with the usual keynote at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT on June 10. The presentation will focus on the company’s software offerings and the developers powering them, including the latest releases. of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, visionOS and watchOS.

You can watch the stream on Apple’s events page. There is also a stream on YouTube, but it tends to lag a bit.

Over the past two years, critics have noted that the company has so far lagged behind Google, Microsoft and OpenAI in generative AI research. CEO Tim Cook has promised to address this concern for some time now, and there’s no better time or place than at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino during WWDC.

Rumors are currently reporting a potential deal with GPT developer OpenAI, aimed at leveling the playing field a bit. And there are plenty of rumors swirling around AI improvements coming to iOS 18.

New hardware, meanwhile, was never a guarantee at the software-focused event, although the company has made it a trend in recent years, thanks to Apple Silicon updates and big Vision Pro debuted last year.

The most recent rumors, however, suggest that it will be a down year for hardware, despite mounting pressure following a mixed reception to Apple’s first shift towards mixed reality and the decision to end its electric car project.

TechCrunch will be reporting from the ground at Apple Park, bringing you the news as it happens.
