Watch 60 of Hoda Kotb’s Sorority Sisters Surprise Her on the TODAY Show

Hoda Kotb was surprised by 60 of her sorority sisters live on the square Monday to help kick off her Hodabration, aka her final week TODAY.

Members of the Marching Virginians, Virginia Tech’s marching band, performed while the school’s mascot, HokieBird, danced and jumped.

“I have to confess something,” Hoda said. “I knew you were there, I heard you were there, so under my blazer I made sure to wear my Virginia Tech stuff.”

Hoda beamed as she showed the crowd that she was wearing a shirt with her alma mater on it under her jackets.

But it wasn’t the surprise she was really expecting, said co-host Savannah Guthrie.

“So you thought you knew what we were doing today?” » asked Savannah.

“Yeah!” Hoda replied.

“Well, let’s welcome your Tri Delt sorority sisters!” Savannah said, causing Hoda to gasp in complete surprise as 60 of her sisters came out onto the square.

Hoda immediately started hugging her Tri Delta sisters, shouting, “Oh, my God!” Oh my God!”

Mary Robertson and Peggy Fox, two of Hoda’s sorority sisters and closest friends, explained how they managed to surprise her with so many members — with just two weeks’ notice.

“They called us two weeks ago and said, ‘Can you get some Tri Deltas?'” Fox told Hoda.

“During the holidays!” We rallied together,” added Robertson.

Carson Daly asked Hoda’s sorority sisters to share a story about her in college.

“You know what she looked like? She was like she is now,” Fox replied. “That’s why we’re here: we know America loves Hoda.”

“You guys, I can’t believe you did this,” Hoda said, “I was the trainer of this sorority and it meant everything to me. I can’t believe you came. I’m shocked , I can’t believe it!

Al Roker was quick to jokingly suggest a kegger at Hoda’s, while Hoda said she had to hang out with everyone.

After the ladies sang a Tri Delta song, Hoda said, “Y’all, that was the greatest, thanks guys.”

Members came from all over the country to wish Hoda good luck in her final week TODAY.

Hoda announced in September that she would be stepping down as co-anchor, as well as her position alongside Jenna Bush Hager on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna.

“I realized it was time for me to move on at 60 and try something new,” she said on the Sept. 26 show.

Hoda said she will remain with the NBC family after her last day, January 10 — although there are plenty of surprises in store for her during her final week on the show.
