A shooting at a Washington state elementary school during a dismissal put the school on lockdown.
At least one adult woman was reportedly shot and killed, according to the Tri-City Herald citing a police dispatch.
The Richland, Washington, school district sent an alert to parents confirming a shooting at William Wiley Elementary School in West Richland.
“The attacker is still at large,” they wrote, adding that all students still on campus were sent to a secure area, even those who were preparing to leave on the school bus.
“Students and staff at our schools have been moved inside buildings and placed in critical containment.”
“If students were loaded onto buses but remained at school, they were moved to the school building. We will keep you updated once we have more information.

Richland police confirmed in a Facebook post that they were on the scene Monday afternoon.
“There is an active incident in the area of William Wiley Elementary School and South Highlands Blvd,” they wrote.
“Please stay away from the area. We will post updates as they become available.
