“The only shoe? Listen! I was running and I didn’t want to break his face,” his owner Jaineen Brown said in a Facebook post Saturday, explaining why only his left foot had a shoe. “The shoe came off! My boy is home!”

Yurman was returned nearly a week after it was stolen thanks to the District’s Violent Crimes Division, according to a statement from D.C. police.

As a result of the investigation, Raphael Lambert Loundermon II, 27, and Khaliah Johnson, 27, both of Southeast, were arrested and charged with extortion and receiving stolen property, police said in a news release Sunday.

Police said detectives are still trying to identify the robbery suspect, who was caught on surveillance cameras.

Before his rescue, police said Brown was contacted by Loundermon and Johnson, who told him they would be “willing to resell Yurman.” Brown relayed that information to police.

In a press release, D.C. police said that around 8 a.m. Saturday, officers from the Sixth District and the Violent Crimes Division conducted an operation in the area of Pennsylvania and Alabama avenues southeast that resulted in the recovery of the stolen dog.

“We are pleased to announce that Yurman is now back with his owner,” the department said Saturday. “Great job by our members who worked on this case!”

Yurman was robbed June 29 in an armed robbery that occurred while Brown was walking the French bulldog in the 1700 block of Fort Davis Street, Southeast.

Brown thanked his online followers throughout Saturday evening, sharing photos of his reunion with Yurman throughout the warm weekend.

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in this day! Thank you so much to all who share my messages! I have no answers, I didn’t bother to ask. My boy is home,” Brown said,
“and bedtime is past.”

DC police are asking anyone who can identify the suspect or has information about this incident to call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your information to the department at 50411.
