The Detroit Lions will have a new backup quarterback for tonight’s game against the Washington Commanders.
Bridgewater retired after the 2023 season to coach high school football at his alma mater, Miami Northwestern. After leading Northwestern to a state championship at a Florida high school this season, Bridgewater came out of retirement and joined the Lions quarterback room in late December. He served as Detroit’s third emergency quarterback behind Goff and Hooker to finish the regular season, but with the playoffs upon us, the Lions opted for Bridgewater’s experience in the backup role.
Bridgewater has made 65 career starts and has a 33-32 career win-loss record with 75 touchdowns and 47 interceptions.
