Warren Buffett defended his junk food regime and his disgust to exercise during the annual meeting of shareholders of Berkshire Hathaway on Saturday.
Sitting with two Coca-Cola cans and a box of See on the table in front of him, the billionaire and CEO of Berkshire stressed his advanced age as proof that a child did not hurt him.
“At 94, I was able to drink everything I like to drink,” said Buffett, picking up one of his coke cans. People have long expressed disastrous warnings of the dangers of a soda habit, but Buffett said that it did not seem to be a problem for him or his late trading partner, Charlie Munger, who lived at 99.
“Charlie and I have never done much exercise – we focused on preserving ourselves carefully,” joked Buffett, triggering laughter in the audience. Business Insider reported live during the event from a press box stored with a variety of See and a refrigerator full of sodas.
He underlined the wear of the body of professional athletes as a good reason not to join a baseball or basketball team, saying that this showed the potential risks of too many exercise.
Buffett previously declared that he caught McDonald’s for breakfast on his work training, drinks five coke cans per day and devours the Dairy Queen ice cream. It is known to love unhealthy foods such as hot dogs, fries, popcorn, cookies and candies.
He also did not prevent Coca-Cola and Kraft Heinz two of the biggest positions in Berkshire, and buying companies like See’s and Dairy Queen.
“I think happiness makes a huge difference in terms of longevity,” said Buffett in an interview in 2023. “And I am happier when I drink coke or eat sundaes or hot hot dogs.”
