China’s Declaration on Doval-Wang Talks:
On May 10, 2025, Wang Yi, a member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau and director of the Central Commission office for Foreign Affairs, had a telephone conversation with Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
Doval said that Pahalgam’s terrorist attack had caused major victims among Indian staff and that India should take measures to combat terrorism. He stressed that war is not the choice of India and does not serve the interests of any part. India and Pakistan are committed to maintaining the ceasefire and hope for the early restoration of regional peace and stability.
Wang Yi expressed the China condemnation of the Pahalgam terrorist attack and his opposition to all forms of terrorism. He noted that, given the current complex and volatile international situation, peace and stability in Asia are harshly won and should be expensive. India and Pakistan are neighboring countries that cannot be moved, and both are also close to China.
China appreciates the declaration of Doval according to which war is not the choice of India and sincerely hopes that the two parties will remain calm and exercise a restraint, resolve the differences by dialogue and consultation, and avoid the new escalation. China supports and awaits India and Pakistan impatiently to make a complete and lasting cease-fire through negotiations, which is in the fundamental interests of the two countries and shared aspirations of the international community.
