THE Washington Post Reportedly laying off dozens of its employees in the coming days, with the news coming after the publication was criticized for not supporting Vice President Kamala Harris (D) in the presidential election won by Donald Trump in November.

In his article published on Status, Oliver Darcy wrote on Sunday that “the layoffs are expected to affect the business division of the newspaper owned by Jeff Bezos and run by Will Lewis, I am told. A person familiar with the matter said the cuts would be significant and would affect several dozen employees.

Bezos would have upset the Job after deciding not to support Harris, according to Breitbart News.

Darcy continued:

The layoffs will surely further dent morale at the beleaguered newspaper, which has suffered an exodus of talent in recent weeks. As I reported earlier, star reporter Josh Dawsey will leave the Post for a job at the Wall Street Journal. Her departure follows the flight of other high-profile staffers, including Matea Gold, Ashely Parker, Michael Scherer, Charles Lane, Tyler Pager and Amanda Katz.

The paper is struggling financially and the problems were “exacerbated when Bezos blocked the Post’s planned endorsement of Kamala Harris ahead of the November election, a move that led more than 250,000 readers to cancel their subscriptions,” a- he added.

In November, the Job‘s senior political editor claimed the paper fired him, according to Breitbart News.

After his decision not to support Harris, Bezos gave Trump “great congratulations” for his “extraordinary political comeback and decisive victory.”

According to Breitbart News, Bezos, the founder of Amazon, has major contracts with the US government.

Meanwhile, Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Ann Telnaes has resigned from the Job and accused its editor of killing a cartoon because of its mocking depiction of Bezos and Trump, Breitbart News reported Sunday:

“I have worked for the Washington Post since 2008 as a cartoonist. I’ve had editorial comments and productive conversations – and some differences – about the cartoons I’ve submitted for publication, but in all that time I’ve never seen a cartoon killed off because of who or what I chose to aim my pen. Until now,” Telnaes said.
