Wandering ‘suspicious subject’ neighborhood is demolished – by its tail, video shows

A group of Louisiana officers got more than they expected when they responded to a “suspicious subject” wandering through a neighborhood.
Deputies from the St. Jean Baptiste Parish SWAT team responded to the call on July 1, according to a Facebook post.
“Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with the suspect who had resisted arrest,” deputies said.
But he was not their usual criminal. This suspect had big teeth.
In a video taken by a neighbor and shared on Facebook, deputies can be seen in a slow speed pursuit of a 5ft long alligator.
Residents watched as the team attempted to grab the alligator’s tail, missing again and again as the reptile made it clear it would not surrender peacefully.
When the alligator was surrounded, it turned and opened its mouth, hissing at the deputies.
A deputy grabbed the alligator’s head and taped its mouth shut before another jumped on the alligator and taped its mouth shut.
The alligator didn’t go there of its own accord, coiling up and shoving its way out of the deputies’ arms before they could get enough of a hold on the animal.
“Officers took the suspect into custody and then released him to the swamp where he belongs,” the post said.
St. John the Baptist Parish is about 30 miles northwest of New Orleans.
