Walton Goggins shares a tragic link with his character of “White Lotus”, Rick.
The actor opened to make his own emotional trip to Thailand “after a trauma” – his first wife Leanne Knight’s Suicide – two decades before filming season 3 of the successful show.
Rick, in particular, is in Thailand with his girlfriend, Chelsea (represented by Aimee Lou Wood), to face the man who, according to him, killed his father, who ends up being his father and who dies after having murdered him.
As for the goggins, he went to Thailand “in search of peace, looking for a resolution that was not so different from what Rick was looking for,” he told Vulture on Monday.
While the alum “justified”, 53, called “the circumstances … dramatically different”, he said that he was “as lost as Rick is lost” and “had nothing” for his wife, Nadia Conners, of whom he was a year of meetings.
“I understood, intimately, Rick’s frame of mind,” he noted, explaining that they both needed to learn that “in the depths of our despair, there is always beauty around us.”
Following his comments, the interview with Goggins in February with GQ resurfaced in which he described traveling everywhere, starting with Thailand, after Knight’s death by suicide.
“I have spent the next three years looking for an excuse – not to end it, but certainly put myself in dubious situations, not with drugs or something like that, just life experiences and travel,” recalls Goggins. “And I really went around the world.”
The alum “Rights Gemstones” told The Outlet to review many of these spots in Thailand while turning “White Lotus”.
He remembered: “The first island we were on, I realized:” I have already been on this road. And then the next island in which we went, I realized: “I was definitely on this beach. And all things kept coming back.
In fact, Goggins pulled his last scene in Bangkok in front of a platform and a hotel where he arrived in the country “20 years ago in so many F-King pain”.
He noted: “I think I did not have time to fully unpack the symmetry between these two people who arise in the same place, separated by 20 years. And a woman and a child and a peace and everything else. ”
The Emmy candidate, who shares his Augustus with Conners, added: “I would like to be able to kiss this guy. I want I can whisper in my ear: “You’re going to go well. Life continues … if you can simply hold and lean there and continue walking on the walk you walk and continue to look for the answers. “”.
Goggins also discussed Knight’s death in the vulnerable profile, calling him in November 2004 by passing a “very complicated story”.
He said: “In the end, it was revealed the decision she had made. And yes – I thought it was really unrealizable for me. Life on the other side of that.”
Goggins and Knight got married in 2001, and she disappeared – and was finally discovered as died by suicide – three years later.
The star of “Django Unchained” married Conners in 2011, their little boy arriving the same year.
