Virginia Dad Gives Son Million Dollar Lottery Ticket As Wedding Gift

TRIANGLE, Virginia — A father gave his son the wedding gift of a lifetime: a million dollar lottery prize!

After getting married in April, Aaron Andrews and his wife Kiana moved into his father’s basement in Prince William County, Virginia, according to lottery officials.

Andrew’s father, an avid lottery player, won the $1 million lottery prize after matching the first five winning numbers on his ticket.

His father had the option of redeeming the prize in weekly payments of $1,000 for life or collecting a one-time jackpot of $1 million – a choice he left to his son as a wedding gift.

Andrews and his wife said they would use the $1 million prize to buy a home and build a fund for their future children’s education.

“It was the best way to get him out of my basement,” his father jokes. The newlyweds had planned to live with him to save money.

“I have a great dad who has done nothing but watch over me!” Andrews told Virginia Lottery officials.
