Vinicius Junior scored a late goal when Brazil won a 2-1 victory with evil against Colombia Thursday in the absence of Neymar. Brazil seemed intended for a third consecutive draw when Vinicius scored the winner nine minutes after the additional time in the qualifications of the South American World Cup.
Earlier, Raphinha gave Brazil ahead in the sixth minute of the capital Brasilia before Luis Diaz marks the equalizer.
The victory raised Brazil in the second row of the South American qualifications with 21 points, four behind the leaders of Argentina and one before Uruguay in third, who both have a match in hand and will come up against Friday.
The first six qualify directly for the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada, seventh place offering a passage via other qualification cycles.
The five -time champions of the World Cup started strong and took the lead within six minutes thanks to a Raphinha penalty after Vinicius JR was dirty inside the box by Daniel Munoz.
But Brazil hit a wall after that and apart from an inclined strike from Rodrygo which largely sailed the post in the 13th minute, they could not create real score opportunities.
They were also exposed to regular counterattacks with Colombia constantly threatening the goal of goalkeeper Alisson.
In the 40th minute, James Rodriguez jumped over a time of concentration of the Newcastle Jaelinton midfielder, taking possession at the edge of the box and finding Diaz who fired in the lower right corner to equalize.
Brazil returned more alive after the break and Vinicius Jr forced a nice backup of Camilo Vargas with an early strike for the interior of the box.
But the pressure to find a goal seemed to withdraw the wind from their sails and, as they wasted a chance after the other, the Dorival Director Jr, who took the post a year ago, was more and more desperate on the sidelines.
His despair turned into joy in dying moments when Vinicius unleashed a curling strike from the edge of the box that escaped Vargas and found the back of the net.

Brazil will now go to face the former Rivals of Argentina Tuesday in a match where they will be without the defender of Arsenal Gabriel Magalhaes and the Newcastle Bruno Guimaraes midfielder, both suspended after receiving yellow cards against Colombia.
