Video shows Ducks player throwing punch after loss

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon Sports Administration said Sunday it was gathering information after video has surfaced showing ducks outside of linebacker DJ Johnson hitting a person in an Oregon State kit on the pitch after Saturday’s game at Reser Stadium.
Johnson is seen punching the person from behind, then being restrained and taken away by what appear to be two Oregon personnel.
“We are aware of a post-game exchange involving a member of our football team and a fan and are working to gather more information,” the Oregon Athletic Department said in a statement.
Oregon State came back from a 21-point third-quarter deficit to beat rival Ducks 38-34. The loss cost Oregon a spot in the Pac-12 Championship Game.
“We are (aware of) this matter and are confident that the Pac-12 Conference and the University of Oregon will investigate this matter and deal with it appropriately,” the state spokesperson said. Oregon, Steve Clark, in a statement to The Associated Press.
Clark said the university does not know the identity of the person who was struck and hopes the person was not injured.
Clark said no complaints were filed with the university police department as of Sunday afternoon.
The Pac-12 did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
