Switch 2 from Nintendo has a small handful of new versions in its launch range, but during the first months after its release, the main thing you can play will be your existing switching game library. And while Nintendo has promised reasonably complete compatibility, the company is still working on the test process of more than 15,000 third -party switching games with the new console.
With a week before the launch, Nintendo updated its compatibility assistance page with the results of almost two months of additional tests. On third -party switching games “more than 15,000”, Nintendo says that around two thirds of them do not have “no problem” or that will have problems that will be resolved quickly at launch or after launch. On the original version of this assistance page, Nintendo had only carried out its basic compatibility tests on approximately 20% of all third -party switching games.
Nintendo says that almost all the remaining switching games are going very well on the Switch 2, but that the “additional tests” are “in progress”. The assistance page does not say when Nintendo will provide its next update.
Nintendo has also updated the list of PDF documents individual games that will not be launchedgames starting but have Another type of compatibility problemand games with problems that should be “sent by launch or shortly after. “”
Almost all 122 Nintendo first games will work well on the Switch 2, with the only exceptions being the Nintendo Labo cardboard kits which were made with the physical dimensions of the original switch. In addition, some games that use the functions of the Joy-Cons original switch will only work if you associate an external joy-con with Switch 2.
