Veteran referee Marc Goddard says KO reaction was a first for him as UFC release mic’d up footage of Max Holloway win
Even the referee was shocked by Max Holloway’s knockout at UFC 300.
Veteran MMA official Marc Goddard was the man in the middle when “Blessed” fought Justin Gaethje for the BMF belt in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

After five rounds of thrilling back-and-forth action, Holloway brutally knocked out Gaethje with just a second left.
Goddard immediately stepped in to call off the fight, but he has since claimed the shocking knockout made him do something he hadn’t done in two decades of officiating fights.
“I would love for the UFC to play audio from my mic,” he said. tweeted Monday.
“I literally screamed at this end, for the first time in 20 years.
“It was an automatic reaction. I guess. I’m still speechless. I still have goosebumps.
“These two guys are the epitome of our sport. Pure class. What a privilege.
Shortly after, the UFC Official X – formerly known as Twitter – shared footage from the fight-ending sequence, including Goddard’s immediate reaction to the knockout.
“The clip was captioned: “Ask and you shall receive, Marc Goddard. Hear referee Marc Goddard’s reaction when Max Holloway knocked out Justin Gaethje with just one second to spare at UFC 300!

In the video, you can hear Goddard shouting “Oh” after Holloway connected with a straight right and sent Gaethje crashing face-first to the canvas.
A moment later, the Englishman intervenes and ends the fight by saying: “It’s over! It’s finish!”
Fans loved hearing the referee’s reaction to such an iconic moment.
One person commented: “I like this. We need more of this!”

Someone else wrote: “I so envy Marc Goddard being 3 feet away from a moment like this. »
Goddard will be back to referee MMA fights later this week.
It’ll probably be a while before he sees something as crazy as Holloway’s finish against Gaethje and even longer before he’s caught on camera screaming over a knockout again.
