Vendée Globe: skipper Charlie Dalin leads the round-the-world sailing race


After 51 days at sea, the 35 competitors in the Vendée Globe, the solo non-stop and unassisted round-the-world race, celebrated the New Year in different parts of the globe. The leader, Charlie Dalin, is off the coast of Brazil. 7,600 nautical miles away (14,000 km), the last sailboat in the race has passed Tasmania, in the very south of Australia.
