Vatican Radio – Vatican News will provide live coverage of the funeral of Pope Francis on Place Saint -Pierre, followed by the procession in the streets of Rome to the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, offering emissions in 15 languages, including four sign languages.

The solemn mass of the Requiem for Pope Francis will attract the attention of the whole world, recalling the memories of a similar solemn moment twenty years ago with the funeral mass of Pope John Paul II, April 8, 2005.
At the same time, these funerals mark a unique opportunity for today’s media, because it will mark the first time that the transfer of fatal remains from one Vatican Pope to another place for burial will be broadcast live on a global scale.
All will take place on Saturday April 26, from 10:00 am, Rome time, when the Vatican Radio – Vatican News will broadcast live the mass of the Requiem, followed by the procession accompanying the coffin of the Pope from Place de Saint -Pierre to the Basilica of St. Mary Major, where he will be deposited at rest, as for his wishes.
Live television coverage in 15 languages
To ensure that the widest possible public can follow events, the Dicastery for Communication (our parental organization) will provide live comments from radio and television in 15 languages: English, Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese Brazilian, Portuguese, German, Polish, Vietnamese, Spanish and French, as well as four signal languages: American sign (ASL) and French.

Italian language cover
Three posts of comments in Italian language will be active: two on Saint-Pierre square and one outside of the Basilica of St. Mary Major. The live cover starts around 8:10 a.m. from the Charlamagne wing.
Around 9:30 am, the coverage will go to the main studio for the mass of the requiem, which begins at 10:00 am. From the morning, the St. Mary broadcasting station will also share the live coverage of prayers and the participation of the faithful.
