If you need to know which constellations are above you in the sky at any time, Vacheron Constantine has covered you.
The Swiss watchmaker deploys “the Cabinotiers Solaria ultra large complication – the first”, which he called the “most complicated wrist -wrist ever”.
According to the watchmaker’s website, the 45 mm diameter watch and 14.99 mm high includes 1,521 components. The website indicates that the watch has 41 complications – a watchmaking term referring to any function of a watch that goes beyond time display.
It took eight years of development and 13 patent applications to be careful, said Vacheron Constantin.
The watch looks ultra elegant and modern, with black dials accentuated with gray and white metal tones. The watch is double side, with its upper side with four sub-cadran and its inner face showing the position of the stars.
In addition to telling its wearer time, the watch also shows the position of the sun, the height, the trajectory and the angle with respect to the earth. It also allows the wearer to know which constellations are above and how long it will take for a star to be visible.
The watch was revealed Tuesday during the Watches and Wonders trade fair in Geneva, CNN reported.
The representatives of Vacheron Constantin did not respond to the requests of Business Insider concerning the retail price of the watch, when it would be available for sale and how many parts of this model would be published.
The new watch follows the story of the watchmaker to make ultra-complied watches. In 2024, he released the “Les Cabinotiers – The Berkley Grand Complication”, pocket surveillance with 63 complications and 2,877 components.
Paul Altieri, founder and CEO of Watch Reseller Bob watchessaid to Bi adjusted 41 complications in a wristwatch while keeping it portable was “breathtaking” and “a total flexion of the horrible muscle”.
“This is less a watch and more a statement – the ultimate mixture of art, engineering and ego,” said Altieri.
But a watch with so many complications is “extremely delicate,” said Altieri. Any service required would probably take months and can probably only be done by the high level watchmakers in Vacheron in Geneva, he added.
“Collectors and watchmakers will love it, but it is certainly not intended for mass appeal. It is designed as a show show.
