Ruby Franke faces legal issues over allegations of child abuse.
The mother of six, who ran the now-deleted YouTube channel 8 Passengers, was arrested and remains in custody on charges of aggravated child abuse in Utah, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Franke and Jodi Hildebrandthis business partner, were arrested Aug. 30 after police were alerted to a report of a starving child, the Santa Clara-Ivins Public Safety Department said in a news release.
Authorities said the child, who appeared “emaciated and malnourished” with “open sores and tape around the extremities”, was searching for food and water. The child, whose name and age have not been released, was taken to a local hospital in “serious” condition.
Police said they were told children at a nearby residence could be experiencing similar circumstances, prompting officers to search a nearby home, where they said they found another minor “in a similar physical state of malnutrition. “. This child was also transported to a hospital, according to the press release.
