San Jose – In baseball, an error can make the difference in a game.
It was therefore Friday at the Belarmine College Prep. The Bells Home welcomed Saint-Ignace in a confrontation of the West Catholic Athletic League in San Jose.
At the bottom of the second round, Belarmine had Nate Bateman first when Dash Knight cut a floor ball in the middle. The ball was badly played in the middle center, and the bells suddenly had two runners and without withdrawal.
They took advantage with two other strokes and a double racing game, and that was all she wrote. These two points were all necessary for Belarmine one day excellent throws and defense, and the Bells beat if 2-0.
“Whoever flashes first or makes the first mistake in these types of matches usually ends up losing the match,” said Belarmine coach Nate Sutton. “Especially in our league. It seems that pitching is quite dominant as a whole.”
It was certainly Friday afternoon. Belarmine was combined for a laundering, while the Starter Apolo Lapiz launched 4 2/3 goalless sleeves before giving way to Preston Pera, who closed the door with 2 1/3 images of non -purpose relief.
The starter Si Chase Gordon was just as good, launching a full game with six work rounds and a single authorized round. It is possible that he would not have allowed it without the error behind him on the ground.
It was just this kind of afternoon. All it was needed was a bit of daylight in a game decided by a ribbon.

“I thought our launcher had done an excellent job,” said SI, Brian Polzzie. “Chase was really effective. They hit a few balls, a few goals, and we didn’t play a game or two. I thought their launcher had done a great job. It’s a difficult team.”
Gordon was also the best hope of if for a racing producer opportunity. He came on the plate at the top of the third with the loaded bases and granted a line of conduct to the deep right field, but Luke McNeil of Belarmine stored him to end the threat.
Gordon came with the bases loaded again in the fifth and aligned themselves with the defender of the Bells Evan Tavarez center. It is this kind of night for Si, and another validating victory for a Belarmin team that has accumulated impressive results in recent weeks.
Les Bells (10-7, 4-5 WCAL) started Wcal Play 0-5 this year, but have since won their last four WCAL schools, including a 12-round victory against Saint-François and a sweeping of the Sacred Heart Cathedral.

“As long as we take the mistakes we have made and learn from them, so we improve,” said Sutton. “These losses are not necessarily losses if we can withdraw something from it. Our goal is at the end of the year to play our best baseball. It was messaging all the time. Save the first one, learn to win.
“Especially last year, we did not have an excellent season. We learn to win matches this year. (St. Francis) was the turn of our season, because they showed a little grain, a little fight, more than us. They learned not to go back.”
Everything is not lost for Si (8-5-2, 5-3 wcc). Wildcats will now be ready to go to Sacramento for Boras Classic, a prestigious tournament named for the super MLB Scott Boras agent who opposes some of the best preparation teams for Northern California.
“You will see good tangages, and we will certainly learn a lot about our team in next week,” said Pollizzie. “We are delighted. We are happy that we were invited to this, and now we are just trying to play as well as possible. ”
