US to share nuclear submarine technology with Australia in new pact

WASHINGTON — The US, UK and Australia are forming a new Indo-Pacific security partnership, building on the long-standing alliance between the three to share intelligence, deepen cooperation and help Australia develop nuclear-powered submarine capabilities as China’s influence grows.

The new deal, announced by leaders of the three countries on Wednesday, was described by administration officials as a way to align common interests in the Asia-Pacific region.
