US stocks open mixed. The NASDAQ is lower. The S&P is almost unchanged.
US stocks open mixed with the NASDAQ falling. The S&P moves above and below without change. The Dow Jones industrial average is slightly higher. A snapshot of the market eight minutes into the open shows:

US yields rose after the Philadelphia Fed index, stronger than expected. Initial and continuing unemployment claims were stable and indicative of a solid employment situation. The president of the New York Fed. Williams reiterated that the policy was a good thing and that the Fed was not very willing to cut rates.
