US stocks close sharply higher, led by Nasdaq/Russell 2000

Major indexes close sharply higher, led by the Nasdaq and the small-cap Russell 2000 index.

The final figures show:

  • The Dow Industrial Average rose 322.37 points or 0.85% to 38,225.67
  • S&P rose 45.79 points or +0.91% to 5,064.19
  • The Nasdaq rose 235.48 points or 1.51% to 15,840.96

The Russell 2000 small-cap index rose 35.88 points or 1.81% in 2016.11.
