Four New York hospitals — three in New York City and one on Long Island — are among the nation’s 20 best medical centers, U.S. News & World Report announced Tuesday.
Mount Sinai Hospital, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital of Columbia and Cornell, Northwell Health North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and NYU Langone Hospitals are on the honor roll for 2024-25.
All four facilities earned honor roll spots last year for their patient survival rates and quality of nursing care, among other measures.
Last year, U.S. News stopped numerically ranking the top performers following accusations of bias and imprecise methodology.
For its annual ranking, the magazine evaluates nearly 5,000 hospitals based on more than 30 medical and surgical services. With five hospitals highlighted, California is the only state to beat New York.
Dr. Robert I. Grossman, NYU Langone CEO and dean of the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, noted that the honors extend to all of NYU Langone’s hospitals, including Tisch Hospital, Kimmel Pavilion and NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital in Manhattan; NYU Langone Hospital on Long Island; and NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn.
“Not only is our overall ranking one of the highest in the nation, but nine of our specialties are among the top five in the country,” Grossman said in a statement to The Post. “We are unique in that exceptional patient outcomes come from all of our hospitals, each of which contributes to our ranking.”
In its statement, Northwell Health said North Shore University Hospital ranked among the top 51 in all 10 specialties it serves. Six other Northwell Health facilities also performed well in the rankings.
“Delivering an exceptional patient experience is the ultimate goal of all of our Northwell hospitals, and the latest U.S. News Best Hospitals list demonstrates how committed we are to achieving that,” said Michael Dowling, Northwell president and CEO.
In a memo to faculty and staff, Mount Sinai leaders noted that the hospital was named to the Honor Roll for the ninth consecutive year and ranked No. 1 nationally for geriatric services for the fifth consecutive year.
