US mortgage rates fall again to lowest level since April 2023

U.S. mortgage rates fell again last week to their lowest level since April 2023, sparking a modest recovery in home purchase applications.

THE contractual rate Interest rates on 30-year fixed mortgages fell for a fourth week to 6.44%, the longest stretch of declines this year, according to data from the Mortgage Bankers Association released Wednesday. That gave a small boost to house purchase requests during the week ended August 23, after a significant decline in the previous period.
