Us House vote to remove the list of endangered species in California

The Republicans of the Chamber adopted a measure Thursday which would repeal the government’s decision to place the cast iron of California, a fish the size of a finger, on the list of endangered species.

The members of the Chamber adopted the resolution, introduced by the Californian representative Doug Lamalfa (D-Richvale), during a 216-195 vote which followed the lines of the party. The resolution now goes to the Senate under the control of the Republican.

“We want to block the erroneous decision of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service to list the population of Delta de la Baie de San Francisco from the end of the end

He said that the agency’s decision last year declared in danger of fish in danger was “non-scientific” and said that it made it more difficult to delivery of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta river to farmers.

The resolution was condemned by the Democrats, who declared that the resolution was against science and the years of study by federal fauna officials.

“They transform a small fish into a very large scapegoat, claiming that it will somehow provide real support for farmers,” said representative Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael).

“The long -term population has decreased by more than 99% since the 1980s,” said Huffman. “The US Fish and Wildlife Service followed the law, data and science, as is the intention congress.”

THE resolution would repeal the decision in 2024 of the Fish and Wildlife Service under the provisions of 1996 Congressal Review ActThis allows Congress to examine and disapprove of the rules adopted by agencies in certain circumstances.

The measure will then be examined by the Senate, where the opponents said that they feared that it could also be adopted. If it is approved and signed by President Trump, it would be the first action of the Congress to use his authority under the 1996 law to go beyond the protections of a species under the Disappearance Species Act.

The finfin shelter, which lives in the berries and estuaries along the Pacific coast, are the sixth fish species of the San Francisco Bay Estuary to add to the Federal List of Threatened species. The fish once filled the bay, but managers of federal fauna declared the population endangered After determining, he had undergone a drastic decline.

The agency’s decision follows a long process which began with a 2007 petition submitted by environmental groups and which involved several proceedings. The fish were listed by California threatened in 2009.

Environmental groups have declared that the decline in long -term abandonment, as well as other species of fish, in particular the melting of the Delta and the quinnat salmon, are linked to the water management policies that have reduced flows through the estuary and have contributed to the worsening of water quality.

“The resolution would essentially condemn the Longfin Foundation of the extinction of the Bay of San Francisco,” said Jon Rosenfield, scientific director of the San Francisco Baykeeper group. “The withdrawal of the protections of this fish would also be a blow for other populations of fish in danger, fisheries and clean water in the delta.”
