A woman has died after being struck by a car in a suspected hit-and-run.

The incident happened on the corner of Boundary Road and Elizabeth Street, Urangan, on the Sunshine Coast, around midnight on Sunday.

Queensland Police said the woman, aged in her 40s, was walking on Boundry Road when she was struck and killed by a silver Ford Falcon.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, but she could not be saved.

A search was launched for a 41-year-old man following the collision.

Police provided an update on Sunday morning, revealing that the driver had been found and was “assisting them with their investigations.”

No charges have been filed.

A crime scene was set up between Stringybark Drive and Booral Road.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage has been urged to contact police.
