Auburn star Johni Broome underwent a frightening injury in the second half of an elite competition eight against Michigan state. He landed awkwardly after opting for a loose ball, folding his elbow in a funny direction.
Broome left the game briefly and suffered x -rays, which has returned negative. Then he made the improbable, returning to the competition.
Auburn was going to win the 70-64 match, going to a final match of the Four against the conference enemy Florida. After the match, the journalist of the CBS round line Tracy Wolfson asked Broome directly if he could play in the Final Four.
“I will be, but all glory to God,” said John Broome.
Tigers could certainly use it. The great man and the first All-American team was dominant throughout the season. It was again obvious in the victory against the state of Michigan.
Shortly after returning after the injury, Johni Broome dropped a rebound in one hand. Then he launched and drained a pointer at 3, to which the crowd became absolutely crazy. He sparked Auburn at a time when the state of Michigan seemed determined to rally.
Broome finished the match with 25 points and 14 rebounds, despite the 11 minutes of action of the missed match. Auburn cut him a little in and go out a little in the second half after the injury, but Broome seemed to be ok.
Wolfson shared the last she had on Johni Broome since Atlanta’s touch after Broome returned to action. She reported:
“Obviously, there was a lot of fear when entering this locker room, but I was told that he was going for x -rays, these radiographs were negative and, as you see, he tries,” said Wolfson.
Broome came across a room where several things had happened to him. He twisted his left ankle while seeming hyper-extension his right elbow. He stayed on the field for a minute or two while holding this elbow before leaving, speaking momentarily with his team and his family, and heading for the locker room.
However, while the tigers maintained their same advance, Broome returned and immediately had an impact on the game. Auburn hopes that he will be able to continue to have this kind of impact in the last four.
