- Users can now search for products on Amazon using photos stored in their Amazon Photos application.
- The new feature uses image recognition technology to find similar products sold on Amazon.
Amazon now sets up a shop in user photo libraries.
Panos Panay, main vice-president of the Amazon devices and services, announced an update of Amazon photos allowing users to “search for your photo library to find similar products on Amazon”.
“Locate something you love with a friend or toy with whom you were obsessed with?” He wrote in an X post on Friday. “Just search for your photos and we will surface for you relevant elements.”
Panay has published a 30 -second video promoting the update, which uses image recognition technology to analyze user photos, identify potential products and provide links to buy similar elements on Amazon.
“You can use the Amazon Photos application to buy recognized products in your photos,” according to the Amazon customer service web page. “When you consult individual photos, select the objective icon to explore the products in the Amazon application or website.”
Amazon representatives did not respond to a request for comments from Business Insider.
The update of the photo application is yet another Amazon way – founded by billionaire Jeff Bezos – tries to attract buyers.
In February, BI said that Amazon is testing a program that pays media companies to generate traffic to the retail electronic commercial platform through product recommendations. The publishers would be paid even if the readers do not buy the product.
The functionality comes just in time for the sale of Big Spring in 2025 from Amazon, which takes place from March 25 to 31. Buyers can conclude offers in several Amazon categories, from electronics to household products.
