Release the facts earlier, met the police chiefPosted at 08:58 British Summer Time

Police forces must be “realistic” and sometimes should publish personal details on suspects earlier, said the chief of metropolitan police.
Sir Mark Rowley was addressed to today’s BBC Radio 4 program on the Merseyside police decision to release the nationality and ethnicity of the suspect in the incident of the parade on Monday in two hours.
He says that he will not criticize another police chief who made a judgment in “really difficult” circumstances, adding that “each case must judge on his merits”.
He then asked if it could establish a expectation of future decisions and if it causes accusations that different standards will apply to suspects of different breeds.
“In general, I think we have to be realistic, and more often … Put more personal details in public earlier,” he said.
At a time when content and inferences appear very quickly on social networks, he says that “putting more facts is the only way to deal with it”.
If these facts “embrace racists” in some cases, we must face these individuals, he says, but adds: “Trying to avoid truths when half of the truth is in the public domain will be quite difficult to move forward.”
