Unrated Slasher ‘In a Violent Nature’ Debuts With $2 Million In Theaters

As Terrifying 2 before him, the famous slasher film In a violent nature was released theatrically in its UNRATED form this weekend, and the box office numbers are in.

This unique arthouse slasher film comes courtesy of IFC Films and Shudder, and it scared the hell out of an impressive audience. $2.1 million in 1,426 theaters in the United States this weekend.

That’s a hell of an opening weekend for an unrated experimental slasher film, almost matching IFC’s $2.8 million opening. Late night with the devil earlier this year. This film gave IFC its highest opening weekend ever, and it grossed $11.9 million worldwide. Will In a violent nature similarly, up to over $10 million? Stay tuned to find out.

In the film, “When a medallion is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred by a horrific 60-year-old crime, his body is resurrected and becomes determined to get him back. The undead golem zeroes in on the group of vacationing teenagers responsible for the theft and methodically slaughters them one by one on his mission to get him and anyone in his path back.
