(CBS DETROIT) – Michigan residents may soon see more Canadian tourists as border restrictions relax.
The Biden administration lifted its travel restrictions to North America at the Canadian and Mexican borders in early November.

The ban has been in effect since March 2020.
Travelers will need to show proof of vaccination.

Governor Whitmer responds to the reopening of the border by saying: “The relationship between Michigan and Canada is one based on trade, travel and friendship.”
She says she is grateful for the reopening of the Michigan-Canada border because it means Michigan’s economy is likely to thrive.
