More than 70 governments, international organizations and research institutes have signed the Declaration, notably the European Union, China and India.
A spokesperson for No. 10 Downing Street confirmed that the United Kingdom had not signed, but refused to explain why.
Instead, they highlighted the involvement of the United Kingdom in a range of other initiatives at the top, including a “Coalition for Sustainable IA” to follow the impact of technology on the planet.
The United Kingdom is committed to countries such as France and the United States on AI, but “will still put the national interest in the first one,” said the spokesperson.
The IA action summit, co-organized with India, was an investment showcase for France, French President Emmanuel Macron announcing more than $ 100 billion in investment.
The next summit will take place in India.
