Union Fire Company in Deptford Township has an all female team!

DEPTFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ — For the first time ever, a South Jersey fire station had an all-female crew on call, and just in time for Women’s History Month.

Union Fire Company, part of the Deptford Fire Department in Deptford Township, New Jersey, has always made an effort to recruit female members.

Currently, around 25% of her total crew are women.

When station management realized they had the staff to put an all-female crew on call, they decided to do it.

The women say they hope to inspire more girls to become firefighters. This is the case of one of the volunteer firefighters, Megan Thelen.

Everyone in his family is a firefighter, including his mother!
