Ukrainian Jews celebrate wartime Passover in defiance of Russian invasion

Ukrainian rabbi Moshe Azman began this year’s Passover, normally a festive holiday, with a funeral: he buried a member of his congregation shot dead by Russian occupiers in the street near kyiv.

Rabbi Azman then rushed to the capital to preside over a wartime Seder in the basement of the main synagogue, one of the few that remained open throughout the Russian invasion.
