Ukraine sends a volley of drones to Russia and strikes an oil refinery

Ukraine drew a large volley of explosive drones on Russia on Friday, according to Ukrainian officials and the Russian army, in a dam that burnt down an oil refinery and a pumping station and briefly closed several airports, including several serving Moscow.

This attack is the last and one of the most important in the Ukrainian campaign aimed at disrupting Russian military logistics and putting pressure on the country’s economy by hitting the oil industry which is the main source of income in Moscow.

Russian publications on social networks have shown fire balls early Friday above a large refinery in Riazan, a city around 180 kilometers south-east of Moscow.

The general staff of the Ukrainian army published a statement indicating that military and intelligence agencies had coordinated the drone attack and struck an oil refinery and an oil pumping station in Riazan, triggering fires. In the neighboring region of Britansk, according to the press release, Ukrainian drones struck a factory of electrical components which manufactures fleas for combat aircraft and missiles, including two models of Russian intercontinental ballistic missiles, Topol-M and Bulava.
