Ukraine hit civilian targets in Russia – regional governor – RT Russia and the former Soviet Union

Bombing destroyed school, kindergarten and private homes, official says

Ukraine has again bombed the Russian region of Belgorod, the local governor confirmed on Friday. The attack deliberately targeted civilian infrastructure, the official said.

Vyacheslav Gladkov wrote on his Telegram channel: “Thank God there are no casualties or injuries,” explaining that the inhabitants of the targeted area had been evacuated the day before. Gladkov said local authorities continued to go house to house in the village, trying to convince people to leave for their own safety.

Later in the day, the governor gave details of another attack on an industrial complex in the same district, where a Ukrainian shell hit directly, causing a major fire. According to preliminary data, at least one woman was injured in the incident.

“The medical team is already taking him to the hospital. All emergency services are on site. More details will come later.” he wrote.

A day earlier, Gladkov also claimed that a nine-year-old boy lost his hands after finding something resembling a Ukrainian drone lying in the street. The device, which was allegedly used by kyiv forces to attack the area, ended up exploding in the boy’s hands.

The Belgorod region has come under regular shelling and drone attacks from Ukrainian forces since Russia launched its military campaign against Kyiv in late February. Last week, an electrical substation in the city was hit, causing power outages in some neighborhoods. An oil depot, a border post, a customs office and an ammunition depot were also affected.

Earlier this week, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a “average level of action” in several regions of Russia, including Belgorod and Crimea, giving local authorities emergency powers to provide security and respond quickly to any emergency.
