Ukraine attacks Russia’s energy infrastructure with drones – POLITICO

Ukraine launched a series of drone attacks overnight against eight Russian regions, the Defense Ministry in Moscow announced on Saturday.

The attacks appeared to target Russian energy infrastructure, according to an Associated Press report. An intelligence source told Reuters that long-range strike drones hit three power plants and set fire to a fuel depot. Reuters quoted the Russian governor of Belgorod as saying two civilians had been killed.

The Russian Defense Ministry said it had intercepted and destroyed 50 Ukrainian drones.

Ukraine is struggling to contain the Russian invasion on the battlefield and targeting oil refineries in recent months, while clamoring the West is demanding more munitions and critical air defense systems as Russia continues to bomb residential areas in Ukraine.

kyiv and its Western allies have their eyes on a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives that could unlock some $60 billion in U.S. support for kyiv’s efforts to repel the Russian invasion.
