Francis Ngannou believes he will fight Tyson Fury next year.

The 35-year-old is competing for the undisputed heavyweight title at UFC 270, but Ngannou has openly said he will be leaving the UFC after that fight and is looking to make waves in the lucrative world of boxing.

Fury seems open to confront Ngannou

Ngannou, ambassador for leading cryptocurrency betting and gaming operator Stake, said: “I’m not sure exactly when Tyson and I will fight, but I think maybe sometime in 2023. I’m still under contract. with the UFC, so I don’t know right now the state of my situation or how it will develop.

“But I will say it will probably happen at some point. It’s definitely something I want to do, but we have no control over it at the moment.

“I know it will be very difficult when we fight. Not only do I come from a distant sport, but I test myself against one of the best, if not the best boxer of all time.

“But I don’t think I’m fighting someone like Ciryl Gane the same way I would fight Tyson Fury. I’m obviously confident, but it will be something totally different and new to me.

“Fury has obviously proven that he can last a very long time in a fight – but I’m sure I’m going to throw bombs at him that he’s never known before.”

Ngannou wants to move to the lucrative world of boxing

Ngannou would certainly pose a different problem for Fury and his power is undeniable, but attempting to box with the undefeated Gypsy King seems like a daunting task.

The Cameroonian’s UFC deal could expire if he loses at UFC 270, but if he wins the title it will keep him locked up for another year due to a “champion’s clause”.

Fury is set to face Dillian Whyte in the coming months and then, potentially, rematch winner Oleksandr Uysk and Anthony Joshua.

For Ngannou, his date with Gane on January 22 is his main focus at the moment and he believes he will knock out his French counterpart.

Ngannou and Gane fight over right to be called undisputed heavyweight champions

“I actually don’t know Gane very well – I’ve only trained with him less than eight times over the past few weeks three years ago. It’s not enough to know so much about it, ”he said.

“Also, everyone has improved and worked on different things since then so that doesn’t mean anything to me. But yes, he’s a good all-around fighter whose abilities I know.

“I’ve heard that Gane wants to go five laps and win on points. It’s definitely a BIG risk with my power to try to last that long. It’ll have to be his lucky day to survive the first round or two. , not to mention five. If he does five laps, that will be a great accomplishment for him.

“My prediction is that it will probably be a second round knockout on my part – or at least I will have knocked him out in less than two rounds.”
