In the first round, Mederos did well, using its movement, speed and low kicks to take over on exchanges and demand an initial lead. But Hubbard worked to close the distance in the second, passing the majority of the frame glued to the back of Mederos, looking for suffocation, before putting the graduate of the series of candidates of Dana White on the back at the center of the octagon at the start of the third. A tactical error allowed Mederos to return to a control position and to split Hubbard open with the elbows on the side of the head, which makes things difficult to decide when the final horn sounded.
