Dricus du Plessis declared without courting that he wanted Khamzat Chimaev to the UFC 319 in Chicago. He got it. He suffered for that. Historically.
In a demonstration of domination which even exceeded its path to the title, Chimaev spent five rounds to stifle the life of what was once an impressive champion, winning by a unanimous decision (50-44, 50-44, 50-44) to take the average weight belt.

Yes, 50-44, times three. It could have been even worse, but the judges did not give Chimaev more than a cycle of 10 to 8, probably due to a lack of significant damage.
It took seven seconds to Chimaev to obtain Plessis on the ground. He won 12 out of 17 withdrawal attempts and had 21:40 of the ground control time in a 25 -minute fight. Du Plessis had previously spent 4:56 time in the background in his five-year career in the UFC, then spent 4:46 there in the first round.
By Total, Chimaev Outlanda du Plessis 529-45. Most of these strikes were not harmful, but the pure volume shows how unilateral this thing was.

The best that can be said for Du Plessis is that he found his legs in the fifth round and made interesting in the last two minutes. The rest of the fight was a demonstration of demoralizing and overwhelming force of a man who now seems ready to play with the medium weight division for the years to come.
How Du Plessis described the experience:
“It was like a blanket. It was not a matter of force, it was not so physical, it was as if it were knowing what your next move would be. He obtained it without using too much power and I had to decide if I will be on my back or have it on my back.
“At the end, I went for that, I had my back, I could almost taste this victory, but – you know, big tall in Khamzat. It deserves it 100%.”
The crowd of the United Center did not like the unilateral and heavy show, Hiant Fort Chimaev in his interview with victory. It didn’t seem to bother him a lot.
The main event could not have had a better introduction. The third fight of the main map ended in an epic manner when Carlos Prates won a rotation elbow in the Dome of Geoff Neal for a KO in the last second of the first round, the ninth rotation of the Ko elbow in the history of the UFC.

It would have been a special moment, then Lerone Murphy did exactly the same thing. He welcomed the newcomer of the UFC Aaron Pico with a return to the first round. The two fighters immediately received a bonus of $ 50,000 and the opportunity to call their shot for their next fight.
It seems that Prates will get a place on the next Rio de Janeiro card in October – he called Leon Edwards as Adversary – while UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski accepted a Murphy’s challenge via social media.
