Ubisoft working to fix XDefiant’s interrupted hit recording

XDefiant kicked off its preseason this week, and Ubisoft’s free-to-play first-person Call of Duty competitor seems to be going down well with fans of competitive shooters hungry for an old-school experience. But there’s one problem with the game that stands out more than any other: click recording.

Hit registration is a video game’s ability to detect the impact of projectile accuracy. Shortly after XDefiant launched this week on PC via Ubisoft Connect, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, players took to social media, subreddits, and Discord to say the game was doing a poor job of saving hits, allowing characters to avoid fire more than they are used to in other similar games.

Editor ChuckedBankForFbow called XDefiant’s hit record “the worst I’ve seen in a long time.” “I survive a lot longer running and jumping around balls than in any other game because their shots just don’t connect lol,” they explained. “M16a4 feels like it throws hopes and dreams at enemies,” added BlOoDy_PsYcHo666.

During the launch of XDefiant, Ubisoft asked players to keep in mind that the game is currently in pre-season and that Season 1 will likely offer a more robust gaming experience. Now, in a tweet responding to more complaints about hit recording, XDefiant development chief Mark Rubin said “this is something we’re working on.”

XDefiant also launched with matchmaking issues, although these appear to be largely resolved as the game enters its first weekend. XDefiant isn’t available on Steam, so we don’t have an idea of the number of concurrent players, but according to a report from Insider Gaming, XDefiant reached 1.5 million players just hours after launch.

Of course, Ubisoft is hoping that XDefiant proves popular enough in the long term to make its free live service a source of revenue throughout 2024 and beyond, with Activision reportedly preparing Call of Duty Black Ops 6 for release end of October. .
