Uber’s senior accounts, with a larger and less buttons font, are now widely available

From today, Uber’s senior accounts will be available for all the United States, as well as certain regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Portugal, France and South Africa. The company considers senior accounts as a necessary product in a world where one in six people will be 60 or over by 2030. And it is a recognition that more elders use a technology that was often not designed with their demographic spirit.

The new senior accounts will appear in the context of the profile functionality of the Uber family which also includes accounts for adolescents. In addition to a larger font and a more rationalized design, the accounts also include recorded destinations for easy driving requests and extended payment options for customers who wish to use a Flex Medicare card.

The elderly can also designate a family member or a caregiver who can reserve rides, modify the parameters and contact the pilots if necessary. And they can choose to share their location so that the aforementioned caregivers and the family members can follow their movements.

Customers who want improved experience – a greater font, reduced complexity and clearer navigation – but who are not linked to a family account can also activate the simple mode of the application section.

Uber’s push to make its basic ridehail service more accessible for the elderly coincides with the recent launch of Lyft de “Lyft Silver” accounts For older customers. Lyft’s approach is similar to that of Uber, since the accounts include a larger character font and a simplified design. But Lyft also has more accessible vehicles and support for customer service with real human employees.
