U.S. stocks fall as week draws to a close

U.S. stocks are trading lower, with the S&P and Nasdaq indexes below the midpoint of the day’s trading ranges.

The indices are still up on the day, but in a week that has seen sharp moves lower, the return to the downside is a disappointment.

As for the Nasdaq, it is still up 144 points, or 0.88%, but it has risen 272 points at the highest with a low of +58 points. Technically, the price is trading again below 38.2% at 17,353. This level will serve as a barometer for buyers and sellers.

The S&P index climbed 89 points and hit a low of 31.47 points. It is currently up 55 points, or 1.07%. Technically, this week’s low was stopped about 38.2%, at 5,394.43. This is a bright spot in what has been a negative trading week for the S&P index.

The Dow is up 661 points, or 1.67%, and the Russell 2000 is up 30 points, or 1.38%.
