The incident occurred ahead of his son’s undisputed heavyweight showdown with Usyk on Saturday (May 18).

It’s unclear what exactly sparked the clash, although Fury Sr claims the team member he headbutted, Stanislav Stepchuk, was disrespecting his son.

Fury was carrying out his media obligations elsewhere in the hotel when the feud broke out and entered the room singing and dancing, completely oblivious to what had happened.

His excitement quickly turned to shock when he met his father’s gaze.

Fury stopped and pointed at his father before appearing to say, “What happened to your head, you idiot?”

The room then erupted in laughter as Fury Sr smiled and joined in with chants of “Fury, Fury, Fury”.

Fury Sr has since apologized for the incident, telling Seconds Out: “Sincere apologies to everyone involved for being honest with you.

“That’s the way we are. Emotions and tensions are high. He was a very disrespectful guy, wasn’t he?

“If you get close to a fighter’s space, you’re going to cop something, right?

“People don’t understand that we are real fighters. What matters to me is respect for my son and he didn’t show any of that. He mentioned my son and that was it, so he had to ‘to have.

Tyson Fury’s father John Fury was left bleeding after a heated clash with a member of Oleksandr Usyk’s team ahead of their massive fight in Saudi Arabia.

“We don’t mind (the blood). This is what we live for, we fight people. It’s a regular occurrence for me.

“With respect, Usyk never said a bad word about him. A great champion, probably the second best heavyweight in the world.

“He’s a good little man and I respect him, but when they start disrespecting a great champion like The Gypsy King, they have to pay the price.”

What is an undisputed world champion?

In boxing, an undisputed world champion is someone who wins all four major world title belts in their division – WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO. Fury currently owns the WBC while Usyk holds the WBA, IBF and WBO. Therefore, the winner will hold all four belts as the undisputed king.
