Los Angeles – Officially, Tyler Glasnow made the injured list with inflammation of the shoulder. But the real diagnosis could be serious, the frustration of grade 1.
Glasnow has left each of his last two starts early with physical problems – leg cramps last week in Texas, a painful shoulder after a single round on Sunday afternoon. Subsequently, he expressed his frustration with an inability to make himself comfortable with certain changes in his routine and his mechanics – the changes he made in the hope of preventing more elbow injuries that ended his 2024 season early.
“I just make a lot of changes, trying to find a way to stay healthy,” Glasnow said on Sunday. “I think some of the changes have led to other things that take over, and I’m just at this stage, I’m just trying to understand what to do. It’s just extremely frustrating.”
Glasnow on Monday was examined by doctors and, according to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, reported “overall pain of the body” and not just shoulder discomfort. He was not sent for imaging on his shoulder (or other parts of the body) because the dodgers believe that his shoulder is structurally solid, according to Roberts.
“We do it,” said Roberts. “There is the piece of mechanics. There is to be uncomfortable, does not feel good. I think we are all right – as Tyler said – very frustrated and trying to go to the bottom of it.”
Glasnow’s journey to the Il “will be delicate with regard to chronology,” said Roberts. Hope will be that he will be able to use the time to stop to heal physically and find some comfort in his mechanics which will allow him to present without recurring problems.
“My position is that when you have someone who complains about things, certainly a launcher, you are very careful to warn against any type of injury,” said Roberts. “The things I hear, the things I see, somehow dictates my decisions. During spring training, he felt good with the new delivery, until he did not do it. ”
The situation of Glasnow puts another hole in the starting rotation of a missing Dodgers Blake Snell without any chronology for his return either. Snell received an injection during the weekend to treat her pain shoulder. He will have to be painless before he can start a throwing program. Snell has not launched since April 2, it will therefore have to go through an accumulation process before being able to go into an assignment of rehabilitation in the minor league.
Tony Gonsolin will return to rotation on Wednesday and will make his first start of the major league since August 2023, when he underwent Tommy John surgery. Clayton Kershaw made two rehabilitation departures and should make his third with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, but the triple winner of the Cy Young Prize is still a few weeks old to be eligible to get out of the 60-day IL.
“Honestly, I really don’t know how it will be playing next week at 10 days,” said Roberts.
The Dodgers will go with their second “enclosure game” on Tuesday and could remedy this in the future. But Roberts has recognized that the team has already looked into the readers. During their first 28 games, the dodgers lead baseball in relief (121⅓).
“Titching is certainly volatile. We lived it last year – mainly every year,” said Roberts. “I think that the thing that is probably the most disconcerting is the return of baseball ingots from the major league in the enclosure of the lifts. This is something where we are talking about the long season, beginners are built to be able to eliminate these sleeves. This is where my head is as far as we make sure that we are not limiting these guys.”
Roberts said that there will be “a conversation to potentially build (ben) casparius” to launch as a starter. Casparius made 3⅔ Glasnow raised sleeves on Sunday.
Another “conversation”, said Roberts, could involve Yoshinobu Yamamoto and / or Roki Sasaki in the process of presenting himself more frequently. The Dodgers kept both on a calendar once a week – trying to reproduce the workload to which they were used to Japan. With a period of 10 games in 10 days and 19 in 20 from this weekend, Dodgers should ask them to launch more often.
It is far from the abundance of the start of pitching which made the dodgers plan to go with a rotation of six men when the calendar has resumed.
“I don’t think we have six (now),” said Roberts with nostalgia.
No sho
One thing is not an option to compensate for the exhausted start -up of Dodgers. The Shohei Ohtani launch program will not be accelerated in order to bring it back earlier on the mound.
“No, no, not at all,” said Roberts. “I think Shohei is separated with regard to the process. I think it’s Gomer (GM Brandon Gomes) who said it yesterday – it’s a week to week to week and I just don’t know. But the availability of other launchers has no impact on the Shohei program.”
Ohtani, who did not launch last season at all, launched an enclosure session and a complete session of the enclosure of the readers per week. He did not include his cursor as part of these sessions. He will have to start launching this before he is ready to face live BP strikers or simulated game situations, all the intermediate steps before launching games.
It is unlikely that he will launch in a match before July at this rate.
Player of the week
Dodgers voltiseur, Andy Pages, shared the honors of the National League player with the third goal of Arizona Diamondbacks, Eugenio Suarez, who struck four circuits in a match on Saturday.
Pages is the first Dodger to be appointed player of the week this season. He was 13 years old for 20 (0,650) last week with three circuits, three doubles and six products produced, including a weekend of 10 for 12 against Pittsburgh Pirates.
“I’m happy for him. He worked hard,” said Roberts. “As a young player, beating and fighting and always keeping some confidence and continuing, and being rewarded like that is great.”
