A man attacked members of the police with a knife at Biarritz airport on December 11. Among the four police officers who arrested him, two were slightly injured.

A man was taken into custody on December 11 in Bayonne after attacking police with a knife in Biarritz airport, AFP reports citing the police and the Bayonne prosecutor’s office.

The man, whose nationality has not yet been established with certainty, was arrested by border police officers as he tried to pass through a screening area “in which he did not have to be”, indicates the prosecution. That’s when he pulled out a knife. Two of the four police officers who arrested him were slightly injured and taken to hospital.

“The individual, not seeming to be in his normal state, could be controlled not without difficulty”, specifies for his part Christophe Labarthe, regional and departmental secretary of the union Unit SGP Police, who denounces “serious and free” facts.

The Bayonne public prosecutor’s office has opened a flagrant investigation for attempted murder on the depositary of public authority, entrusted to the Bayonne judicial police.
