Local News

Several trains on the Framingham/Worcester line were severely delayed or canceled during rush hour Monday due to the incident.

Two people were killed after being struck by a commuter train in Natick Monday evening, officials said.

MBTA Transit Police and officials from the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the circumstances of the incident, MBTA Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan said.

Several trains on MBTA Commuter Rail’s Framingham/Worcester line were canceled due to the incident.

The MBTA first announcement that a Worcester Line train was canceled due to police activity around 5:30 p.m. Monday and warned passengers on the line that they would experience “significant delays”.

Some trains on the line were allowed to operate on one track between Wellesley Farms and West Natick around 7:10 p.m., according to a job of MBTA on X, but passengers experienced delays of several hours and trains continued to be canceled closer to 8 p.m.

No further information was released Monday evening.
