Two migrants, one of which was spent last week by agents of the border patrol and the Sher Diego County Sheriff’s office after their place in the Otay Mountain Wilderness region after having illegally crossed the United States.
The two women, both Mexican, were located some time after midnight on Friday in the Wilderness region after the Mexican authorities reported a rescue call to border patrol agents, Border Patrol said in a statement.
The women had blocked due to “bad weather” and reported injuries and a lack of food and water.
The agents of the border patrol have located the women in a canyon remote about 6 miles east of the port of entrance to Otay Mesa, but the dense fog and the low clouds did not allow immediate rescue, said the agency.
The agents of the trauma team of the search for the border patrol and the rescue team remained with women in an improvised refuge until they are transported by a helicopter of a sheriff.
The women were taken to a fire station for a medical examination and then transported to a border patrol station where they were treated for the withdrawal of the United States
The rescue took place in conditions that saw mountain temperatures reach almost a frost, said Border Patrol.
“The border region can be treacherous, with extreme weather conditions and damaged terrain posing serious dangers,” said Jeffrey D. Stalnaker, chief agent in the San Diego sector. “Illegly seizure not only breaks the law, but also puts life in danger.”
